3D Shapes
A three dimensional shape is one that has length, breadth and height or depth allowing travel forwards, backwards, left, right, up and down. 3D shapes are pleasing manipulatives to handle and come in a variety of geometric shapes, colours and materials. Translucent shapes allow students to view shapes three dimensionally from one side. Solid 3D shapes are a more tactile object that require handling in order to view and compare different sides. Folding geometric shapes enable students to view the numerous 2D shapes that are required to build a three dimensional one.
