By the age of 3 or 4 children should be developing age appropriate number and counting skills that can apply to the world around them. Fun games for kids that teach numbers & counting can speed up learning of these basic skills. The importance of one to one correspondence counting up to 5 objects and understanding what a written numeral represents are all milestones for preschoolers. Blocks, counters, puzzles, cards and magnetic numbers are easily manipulated by young children. Simple counting rhymes and songs help with number retention as do incidental activities such as counting the number of apples in the bowl or shoes by the door.
