Māori Music & Movement

Music and movement is integral to the Māori culture. Children are familiar with the haka, poi dances and waiatas. They have experienced these first hand or seen them on television so are familiar with their format. Noways there are readily available resources which give children hands on opportunities to learn more about traditional and contemporary Māori music and movement. There are also some excellent kapa haka groups that foster a deep and richer understanding of te reo, tititorea, music and movement that showcase Māori performing arts
