Teach encoding through CVC word play! In addition to developing decoding skills for reading, it is essential that students are explicitly taught encoding skills for spelling. A great starting point is working with simple three-letter consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words. This game offers two options - Independent Activity where a students work individually to build the matching words, using the letter tiles to spell, or Small Group Activity (2-4 players) where students practise letter–sound correspondence and develop confidence in encoding familiar CVC patterns.
